Aiken man is booked on felony DUI charge in deadly Whiskey Road crash

Joshua Haines, 43, was booked June 23 in Aiken County after a May 1 crash on Whiskey Road in Aiken that killed 46-year-old Carla Garvin, according to booking records. The listed charges are felony DUI resulting in death and driving without a license.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said Haines turned himself in June 24. Troopers said Garvin was driving a 2024 Kia north on Whiskey Road when a southbound 2006 Ford pickup tried to turn into a private driveway and the vehicles collided.

The Aiken County coroner's office said Garvin died at the scene. Officials said Haines was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
