Augusta man is booked on murder charge in woman's shooting death

Kemfton Kenon, 27, was booked July 10 in Richmond County on a murder charge, according to booking records. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office said the charge is tied to the May 15 shooting death of a 25-year-old Augusta woman on Cameron Drive.

The sheriff's office identified the woman as Khyla Rodriguez and said deputies were called about a shooting at 1:11 a.m. May 15 in Augusta. The Richmond County Coroner's Office said she was declared dead at 2:27 a.m.

Authorities said Kenon had previously been wanted for questioning and was located in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
