Authorities say a 37-year-old man wanted on Burke County sex-crime warrants fled deputies and U.S. Marshals before his arrest in Richmond County.

Christopher Chance, 37, was booked June 5 in Richmond County after authorities said he fled deputies and U.S. Marshals who were trying to arrest him on Burke County felony warrants tied to a sexual assault investigation.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office said Chance drove off in Augusta, crashed, then ran before he was caught after allegedly trying to get into a home. Booking records show he was jailed in Richmond County on charges including felony fleeing or attempting to elude, criminal attempt, misdemeanor obstruction, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving stolen property and a safekeeping hold for another agency.
The Burke County Sheriff's Office said investigators responded June 2 to Doctors Hospital in reference to a sexual assault and later obtained warrants for Chance. Burke County authorities said those charges include rape, incest, sodomy, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
