A 19-year-old volunteer football coach at Community Christian Academy in Martinez has been charged with child molestation involving a 14-year-old student at the school. Joshua Ramsey, of Evans, was booked Oct. 20 in Columbia County.
Columbia County deputies were called to the private Christian school on Columbia Road about a possible sexual assault. Their investigation found that Ramsey, who volunteered as a football coach there, had an inappropriate physical relationship with a 14-year-old female student, sheriff's Maj. Andy Shedd said.
The arrest warrant accuses Ramsey of digitally penetrating the girl. The alleged act took place off campus, in a subdivision in Evans.
The case was reported by Matthew Moore, pastor of Trinity Baptist Ministries and chairman of the school board, after he learned of it from a member of his congregation. The academy has operated as a ministry of the church since 2016.
Ramsey is the son of Ike Ramsey, a pastor who was named the academy's head of school and athletic director last year. His mother teaches at the school, and Ramsey himself graduated from Community Christian Academy in 2025. Authorities have not alleged that Ike Ramsey had any involvement in the case.
At the time of his arrest, Ramsey worked for the Columbia County Water Department. The sheriff's office said the investigation was ongoing.
Ramsey's bond was set at $25,100. He remained in the Columbia County Detention Center on the morning of Oct. 21, Shedd said.
