Aiden Nguyen, 18, of Greenwood was booked June 6 in Aiken County on charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after police said he shot at a driver in Aiken the day before.
Police reports say officers were called to Cherokee Street on June 5 after a victim reported that a man in a black face mask carrying an assault rifle threatened to shoot unless he left, then fired at him five to six times as he drove away. The Aiken Department of Public Safety said officers later found a vehicle matching Nguyen's description behind an abandoned residence on Cherokee Street, negotiated with him to come out, and arrested him.
According to police reports, officers searched the vehicle and recovered a Glock 17 9mm pistol, a rifle, multiple boxes of ammunition and a bullet catcher.
