William Burnett Jr., 56, was booked Oct. 5 in Richmond County on an other authorities safekeeping hold after his arrest in the ongoing Operation Fourth Take investigation.
Grovetown police said Burnett, of Hephzibah, was accused of repeatedly contacting someone he believed was a child over several days. Investigators said he sent explicit images of himself, described sexual acts he wanted to have with the child and tried to arrange an in-person meeting.
Police said Burnett had been told multiple times that he was communicating with a child but continued the exchanges. He was taken into custody Monday by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Team and taken to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
Authorities said Burnett was expected to be transferred to Columbia County in connection with the case. Grovetown police said additional arrests tied to Operation Fourth Take are expected.
