Richmond County deputy indicted in alleged Taser assault
Richmond County deputy Clarence Johnson V was booked July 8 in Richmond County on a grand jury arrest warrant after prosecutors said he was indicted on felony charges tied to a Jan. 11 incident.
An indictment filed July 7 in Richmond County Superior Court charges Johnson with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, violation of oath by public officer and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. Prosecutors allege Johnson unlawfully tased a male victim and pushed him to the ground while acting as a law enforcement officer. The indictment says the victim's face hit the pavement and he lost teeth.
