The sheriff’s office said the arrests are tied to a February kidnapping investigation in Augusta, with additional violent charges filed in booking records.

Nametrius McClam, 19, and Demarion Simpson, 19, have been arrested in connection with a February kidnapping investigation in Augusta, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
McClam was booked in Richmond County on May 21 on charges of kidnapping, simple assault and theft by receiving stolen property-felony, booking records show. Simpson was booked June 4 on charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping, obstruction of law enforcement officer and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to booking records.
The sheriff’s office said McClam was taken into custody May 21 and Simpson was arrested June 4. Authorities have said the investigation remains ongoing.
