Washington County man charged after 15-year-old girl is fatally shot

Kemarion Markel Washington, 22, was booked June 20 in Washington County on murder and other charges after authorities said a 15-year-old girl was fatally shot at a home near Tennille that night.

Washington County deputies responded to a shooting call near Tennille just before 10 p.m. June 20 and found LuVenya Knight unresponsive inside the home, according to the sheriff's office. The sheriff's office said life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, and Knight was pronounced dead at the scene.

Booking records show Washington was jailed on charges including murder, aggravated assault, statutory rape, aggravated child molestation and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
