Joshua Chute, 34, was arrested Oct. 5 after investigators traced a cyber tip to his phone, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Joshua Chute, 34, was booked Oct. 5 in Aiken County on a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree, involving 1 to 25 images. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said the arrest followed a cyber tip investigation.
Investigators began looking into the case June 2 after receiving a CyberTip from the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office related to child sexual abuse material. Deputies later executed a search warrant in Williston and said they found a file on Chute’s cell phone showing a nude child younger than 14.
An arrest affidavit alleges the image was discovered during the search of his phone. Chute was taken into custody the same day he was booked.
