James Ring, 68, was booked Aug. 26 in Aiken County on a charge of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor involving more than 250 images.
Aiken Department of Public Safety officers and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents executed a search warrant in Aiken that day during an internet crimes against children investigation launched after a cyber tip, according to authorities.
Investigators said Ring was interviewed at the scene, waived his Miranda rights and told them he had a USB flash drive containing more than 250 files of child sexual abuse material. Officers also seized several items, including phones, flash drives, a CD and a laptop.
He was later served with the warrant at the Aiken County detention center.
