Veronica Strong-Bouquette, 29, was booked July 20 in Richmond County on charges of aggravated assault, first-degree cruelty to children and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime after deputies said she stabbed her 2-year-old son at a home in Augusta.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called around 6 p.m. July 20 to the 100 block of Fister Court, where they found the boy with an abdominal wound and a cut to his neck. The sheriff's office said he was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Warrants allege Strong-Bouquette used a 6-inch blade to stab the child in the stomach and cut the left side of his neck. The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing.
