Joe Clemmons, 61, was booked July 24 in Aiken County on one ill-treatment-of-animals charge after authorities seized 40 animals while serving search warrants in the Beech Island area.
According to Aiken County Code Enforcement and the sheriff's office, three search warrants were executed July 24 on Wall Street. Officials said 26 dogs, 12 cats and two bunnies were seized, and the investigation remains open.
