Evans woman booked after fatal motorcycle crash in Columbia County
Deputies said the crash happened at Columbia Road and North Old Belair Road after a car turned into the path of a westbound motorcycle.
Shalimar Anderson, 41, was booked July 27 in Columbia County on charges of homicide by vehicle and failure to yield while turning left after deputies said her car collided with a motorcycle at Columbia Road and North Old Belair Road.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened around 4:40 p.m. July 27 when Anderson, driving a 2018 Honda Accord, tried to turn left onto Columbia Road and crossed into the path of a westbound 2006 Big Dog motorcycle ridden by Frank Lanier, 58, of Appling. Deputies said Lanier was thrown from the motorcycle, and bystanders started CPR before Columbia County Fire Rescue arrived. He was taken to Doctors Hospital in Augusta, where authorities said he died.
