Authorities say a June 11 shooting near York Street and Rutland Drive in Aiken left one person wounded before a 22-year-old Graniteville man was booked.

Phillip Upson, 22, of Graniteville was booked July 22 in Aiken County on charges including attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after authorities linked him to a June 11 shooting in Aiken. Booking records also list a drug charge.
According to an incident report, Aiken Department of Public Safety officers responded June 11 to the area of York Street and Rutland Drive, near the Sunoco gas station, for a shooting. A witness told law enforcement a male ran into the road and fired at another vehicle, and officers later found a person with a gunshot wound walking toward Paces Run Apartments. He was taken to MCG Wellstar by EMS.
The incident report says officers found shell casings in the Paces Run parking lot, along South Carolina Highway 118 near a car wash and a Dollar General, and in the parking lot at Crosland Apartments. A 14-year-old juvenile was also listed as a suspect, according to the incident report.
