A Richmond County Sheriff’s Office major was arrested Monday in a Georgia Bureau of Investigation case. Robert Silas, 59, was booked Aug. 31 in Richmond County on charges of pandering, solicitation for sodomy and violation of oath by public officer.
The GBI arrested Silas on Monday night, according to officials. The sheriff’s office had not released details about the investigation as of late Monday.
Silas is a longtime member of the sheriff’s office and has served in a leadership role in the agency’s Special Operations Division. He has also been a public spokesman for the department in recent years.
The investigation remains ongoing.
